ABOUT ALSC
Amarillo Lightning Soccer Club was started in the Fall of 2001
by Rodney Carnes and Brant Spencer along with the Lightning '91
girls team to provide a competitive soccer alternative to the
club structure which existed at that time. The club started with
the Lightning '91 team and one Coyotes boys team.
In the Fall of 2003, the club was joined by the Thunder '93
girls. In the Fall of 2004, the Phoenix '94 boys, the Lightning
'94 girls, and a second Coyotes team joined the club, bringing
the total number of current teams to six.
ALSC's philosophy from the beginning has been and continues
to be:
Amarillo Lightning Soccer Club (ALSC) was established to develop those
soccer players that are interested in training and competing
at a higher level of competition and to work toward
state, regional and national soccer titles.
Realization of these goals must be accomplished within the
proper framework; by instilling character, self-esteem, confidence
and sportsmanship within the youth athlete. Achievement of
these objectives can only be reached through the mature behavior
and exemplary conduct of the coaches and parents.
An aggressive desire for victory combined with the procedural
and graduated development of soccer skills is of paramount
importance. Nevertheless, the realization by all that soccer
remains only a game is an inherent aspect of the Club that
must always be recognized.
